The Rice Kitchen was sponsored by the American Rice Association, a coalition of rice growers in Louisiana, and Texas. The association was based in Crowley, LA.

The restaurant served over 200 dishes that had rice as a primary ingredient. 
Demonstrations on how to prepare and cook rice were given from 11:00-12:00, while food was served from 12:00-2:00, and 5:30-7:30.
