Events
December 2, 1904
- Day after Fair closed.
- Arsonist destroyed several attractions on the Pike. Entire St. Louis fire department helped battle fire.
- Workers begin emptying the huge Palaces of their exhibits.
- The offices of the Fair's administration were removed to various convenient buildings upon the exposition grounds. The offices of the President (David R. Francis), the Secretary (Walter Stevens), and Director of Works (Isaac S> Taylor) to the Hospital building, which was designated as the new Administration Building, the office of the Director of Exhibits to the Press Building, and the office of the Director of Concessions and Admissions to the Model Drug Store on the Model Street. An office of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition Company was retained in the Merchants Laclede Building, the general counsel of the company occupying this office for some months after the close of the Exposition.
December 3, 1904
- Sightseers were charged 25 cents to see the demolishing of the Fair buildings.
December 28, 1904
- Last miniature railroad train from Fair sold to Tony Stuever for $1500 to be used at Forest Park Highlands in summer 1905. It was a complete "line" consisting of a locomotive engine and 3 passenger cars.
December 31, 1904
- Palace of Horticulture was reported as ready for transfer to Chicago House Wrecking Co., the company which had purchased the Exposition company's property.
