Below is a list of events that happened during 1909.

Events[edit | edit source]

November[edit | edit source]

  • World's Fair Pavilion built approximately where the Missouri State Building stood using funds from the remaining LPEC account.
  • St. Louis Museum of Fine Arts dissolved as a department of Washington University and became the City Art Museum (now the Saint Louis Art Museum, or SLAM).
  • Built with profits from the Fair.

  • The British Pavilion was temporary, like most other buildings at the Fair, but was substantial enough to serve as Washington University's art school during these years. Portions of it were incorporated into today's Bixby Hall. (According to 'Washington University in St Louis: it's Design & Architecture', 1978.)
