The Scranton School of Correspondence had a guild hall building located in the Model City.

Description[edit | edit source]

The I. C. S. Guild hall was erected by the International Correspondence schools of Scranton, PA, and contains exhibits of student's work in designing, illustrating, architecture, civil, electrical and other subjects, together with the specially prepared textbooks, reference libraries furnished students in this system of correspondence instruction and adopted by the United States School of Submarine Defense at Willet's Point, NY.

Student's exercises in the study of French, German and Spanish exhibit the I.C.S. method of applying the Edison phonograph to give correct pronunciation and phonographic records of student's recitations show the results of this system of study and the facility of it's correction, as compared with the old method of learning directly from the individual teacher. Phonographic outfits, equipped for classroom work, exhibit the I.C.S. method as used at the United States Military academy at West Point.

Demonstrations of the method and free lessons in French, German and Spanish to English-speaking people and English to foreigners are given daily in the lecture room of the first floor.

The second floor provides a reading and writing room for ladies, a bureau of information and a parcel check room.
